Navigating the heat: Tips for commuting on hot sunny days

Commuting during hot, sunny days can be challenging, but with the right actions and choices, you can make your trip more bearable. Here are some tips when commuting during a sweltering day:

1. Avoid peak heat hours
If possible, try commuting earlier in the morning or later in the evening when the sun is not as strong. By doing so, not only will you be able to avoid the heavy traffic but also save yourself from having to travel in the scorching heat.

2. Dress in light, breathable clothing
With how jampacked public transport vehicles usually are, it's best to wear light clothing (See trending outfits for summer and sunny days), as wearing thick and non-breathable clothing could surely make your trip very uncomfortable.

3. Wear a hat or use an umbrella
Because commuting will still require walking from one place to another, it's a must to have an umbrella or hat to protect you from sunrays. Heat exhaustion is a potential danger of being exposed to the sun for long periods of time, so avoid enduring the heat directly and use a hat or umbrella (See affordable folding umbrellas) .

4. Stay hydrated
We all know that dehydration can cause big trouble when it happens. A water bottle is your best defense against dehydration and heat exhaustion. Always bring a bottle of water (See popular water bottle designs) so you can quickly rehydrate anytime, anywhere.

5. Plan your route and include shaded areas
If there are shaded walkways or establishments like malls and shopping centers that you can pass through to get to your destination, by all means take that route. You don't have to stay outside under the cruel sun if there are other available routes that lead to your destination.

6. Wear sunscreen
Did you know? The sun can damage our skin and make us age faster. You also wouldn't want to get a sunburn just by commuting, right? So save your skin from damage and keep it healthy by wearing sunscreen. When you get older, you will thank your younger self for applying sunscreen (See sun protection products for different skin types) .

7. Bring a rechargeable or folding fan
It's easier to beat the heat on hot, sunny days when you have something that can help you cool down anytime, anywhere like a rechargeable fan (See best-selling rechargeable fans online) or a foldable fan. In fact, it's best to have both so that when the rechargeable fan dies, you can simply pull out your foldable fan.
